SHOOT WITH NICK
Two-Part Hands-On Photoshoot Workshop with Nick
Hosted by Lakeland Film Lab
Instructor: Nick (@itsalwayssunny16)
Join Lakeland Film Lab for an intimate, two-part, hands-on photography workshop led by Nick (@itsalwayssunny16). Nick is a film photographer whose work has been featured by brands such as Leica, Cinestill, Kodak, and Dickies, and he brings real-world experience into every step of his creative process.
This small-group experience is designed to walk you through exactly how Nick plans, schedules, and executes a styled photoshoot—from the first spark of an idea to pressing the shutter on shoot day.
This workshop focuses on the full creative process, including:
-
Developing a strong shoot theme
-
Choosing film stocks that support your vision
-
Location scouting
-
Selecting props and wardrobe
-
Finding and working with a model
-
Executing a styled shoot with intention
Part 1: Planning & Pre-Production
We’ll kick things off by meeting at a local coffee shop for a relaxed but focused planning session. As a group, we’ll:
-
Create a shared group chat for collaboration
-
Decide on the shoot date, time, and overall theme
-
Discuss and source props and wardrobe ideas
After our initial planning session, we’ll break off to begin the location scouting phase. Participants will explore potential locations and share photos in the group chat, along with any additional props or wardrobe items they discover. This collaborative process mirrors how real shoots are planned and allows everyone to contribute ideas and inspiration.
Part 2: Shoot Day – On Location
For Part 2, we’ll meet on location to bring the vision to life. Nick will walk through how he approaches a styled shoot in real time, covering:
-
How he composes and shoots on film
-
Tips for working with light, models, and environments
-
Film-specific shooting advice
-
Open Q&A throughout the session
Participants will have hands-on time to shoot, experiment, and execute their own vision while receiving guidance and feedback.
Whether you’re looking to better understand shoot planning, refine your creative process, or gain confidence executing styled shoots on film, this workshop offers a collaborative, real-world learning experience in a supportive environment.
